Women in Advertising
The Iron Maiden from The Reading Culture is explaining the portrayal of women in advertising. It is pretty disgusting the way that women are seen in magazines and other advertising tools. These pictures are giving the normal, average girls of everyday life a low self-esteem for who they really are. And this is what the text is stating. It’s strange because as I was reading, I was picturing myself writing the same thing. I would probably be more sarcastic and tough in my writing, but still the same concept. The modern day women in advertising seem so real yet so perfect; therefore the actual real girls of our society look down on themselves and don’t appreciate themselves for who they are. God made us all very different, and that wasn’t an accident. He did it on purpose. The world wouldn’t be the same if we all looked exactly alike. And I for one appreciate the way I look. That’s not saying I may not change something about myself if I had the opportunity, I just mean I am confident in myself and I feel like every girl should be. And men should want women for their natural beauty, not the cultural fake beauty that has made its way into everyone’s life. But all of this is my opinion, and I can’t change anything by just writing a blog. It’s not just up to me. It’s probably going to be this way forever on.
